Education body

The education body at HIAST contains members of the teaching staff, university graduates and technicians who are directly involved in the process of education. Members of foreign, Arab and Syrian teaching bodies might also participate in teaching.

The teaching staff at HIAST:

Members of the teaching staff are selected from those of the scientific research body. The candidate to a teaching post is required to be a PhD holder, to have taught at HIAST for three years at least and to meet one of the following conditions:

 

  • to have taught more than three hundred and fifty teaching hours
  • to have taught more than two hundred teaching hours and accomplished some works positively evaluated by a committee containing three members of the teaching staff at HIAST. Members of this committee are nominated by HIAST board of directors.

The maximum teaching hours for a member of the teaching staff is nine hours a week. This number can be increased in urgency depending on a decision taken by HIAST council.

University graduates and technicians at HIAST:

University degree holders share in all scientific and educational works. They also participate in social, professional, intellectual and cultural activities required because of the special nature of working at HIAST. In addition, technicians support the teaching staff and university graduates at HIAST.
