Scientific events
HIAT takes part in several national and international events and plays an important role in organising and sponsoring the following event:

 Arab School for Science and Technology: This is jointly sponsored by HIAST and other Arab institutions, and HIAST has a member in the steering board. Every year the school holds several conferences and workshops on specialied subjects of interest to the sponsoring bodies, where international experts give lectures on a carefully-chosen topic. The school is held at HIAST or in other member Arab states.

Sham Informatics Conference: This was launched in mid 1990s by HIAST and Syrian information society

Palmyra School of Physics, which was held for three years. HIAST was the main organiser and it presented several research papers.

International Conference for Communications technologies and Applications, which was held in Damascus on 19-23/4/2004

Science Week, which is held annually by the Ministry of Higher Education.
