External sponsorship projects
HIAST takes part, in collaboration with other local and regional institutions, in suggesting some projects for external sponsorship through the international aids programme.

 Eumedis aims at establishing information and technology exchange society and includes:
EumedConnect: its aim is to connect scientific research networks and universities in the Mediterranean area and the high-speed European scientific research network.
ICT-SMEs its aim is to develop information society and put plans to train personnel to work in small and medium-size enterprises in Euro-Mediterranean countries.
MEDFORIST its aim is to train Mediterranean people in ICT and share knowledge of factory management and commerce.
PARADIGMAits aim is to establish a national and regional policy concerning public health.

Tempus aims at supporting teaching and includes three projects:
- Evaluating educational institutions, particularly HIAST and Faculty of Civil Engineering, Damascus University.

- Qualifying trainers in mechatronics.

- Qualifying teachers and experts in order to establish a resource cenrtre in Damascus in collaboration between HIAST and the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Damascus University. This projet is expected to support a specialised diploma in materials.

FP6 aims at establishing information points in Mediterranean countries, especially Syria, to help universities and research centres with research and development projects which are sponsored by the EEC.
