Mathematics Department

Several researchers & teachers specialized in pure mathematics & applied mathematics work in this department. The whole staff take part in performing the main tasks required from the department which are:

Teaching

• It includes syllabus of basics in mathematics at the stage of fundamental preparation (first year & second year), and syllabus for engineering qualification ( for third year, fourth year, and fifth year) as well.‎‎‏
• Teaching process acquires special importance due to the quality of taught subjects & the quantity of taught syllabus which approximates one thousand teaching hours every year.‏

Projects & Studies

• Cooperation with other departments in the Institute in carrying out development projects done through common work teams, and making studies related to applied mathematical problems.‏

External Cooperation

Fulfilling external needs such as consultations, studies, and teaching in order to carry out settled agreements between the Higher Institute and external institutions (Damascus University, Ministry of Education,…). The scientific interests in the department depend on the specializations of its staff which include the following fields:

• The Encoding Theory
• Algorithm.
• Numerical Analysis and its Applications.
• Theory of Probabilities and mathematical Statistics.
