Physics Department
This department has a number of researchers, engineers and technicians. It supports the other departments in teaching department-related subjects.
Its main tasks can be summarised as follows:
-
Characterization and preparation of matters( polymers, glass and ceramic, metal alloys).
-
Characterization of electronic elements.
-
Lasar applications.
-
Uses of solar power.
Teaching
The department teaches physics in the preparatory stage( the first years of engineering qualification) and the specialization one, too.
Research and Development
The department implements the results of development and studies which have been conducted in the field of applied physics and measurements. Some examples are:
-
Modelling termodynamic condensed matters.
-
Studying the ionic-conductive materials.
-
Prototyping some sensors and ferrites elements.
-
Measuring temperature with lasar.
-
Studying ceramic materials.
-
Using the solar energy.
The department depends on a number of specialised laboratories to perform the above-mentioned tasks:
-
The optical fibres lab.
-
The materials chemistry lab.
-
The materials structural analysis lab.
-
The thermal and mechanic tests lab.
-
The radiation sensors lab.
In addition, there is a workshop for manufacturing glass equipment and tools.
